the one about glimpses of goodness
A reminder that kindness still matters (even in a Pokémon card trade)
Lately, it feels like the world is stuck in a constant state of chaos. The news cycle is relentless, the problems seem unfixable, and it’s easy to fall into a kind of emotional malaise. At least, that’s where I’ve found myself.
But then, unexpectedly, a Pokémon card collector reminded me that hope—and basic human kindness—are still out there.
I stumbled across a social media account called Coops Collection. It’s run by one guy (Coop) who collects, trades, and sells Pokémon cards at trade shows and online. I don’t collect cards myself, but I couldn’t stop watching his videos. His generosity is infectious. He treats everyone with genuine warmth—kids, adults, longtime collectors, and first-timers alike.

He livestreams from shows, chatting with his followers while navigating the chaos of the trading floor. What’s beautiful is what happens in the comments: people donate money so that others—those who can’t afford a favorite card that’s on display—can still get it. Sometimes, Coop even hands out cards for free just because someone loved them.
And you see the ripple effect. Other people at these shows start emulating his kindness, looking out for each other, trading fairly, and celebrating the joy of shared interests.

It’s small. It’s a little silly. But in a time when division and distrust feel like the norm, this pocket of the internet has been a soft place to land. A reminder that community doesn’t have to be complicated.
Sometimes, all it takes is someone with an open heart—and a binder of Pokémon cards—to help you believe in people again.
loved this, joshuan! great vibe to start the week.
