Welcome to Plot Twist! It is I, Josh Rivera.

Don’t be fooled by that formal introduction, I’m here to talk about books, movies, shows, social posts, and any other cool story I can find.

Just like my friends, you’ll hear from me once a month to talk about storytelling and read a short story. I hope I can become your friend who you talk to about what you’re reading or watching.

But I know what you’re thinking: “Wow, Josh, you look so smart in a blazer and an H&M button-down.” And yes, you are right.

I’m smart about a lot of things, all having to do with the Real Housewives franchise, but I don’t have any formal literary training. You won’t see me write about a story’s “anadiplosis” … mostly cause I just had to Google “big literary words” to come up with that term.

Growing up my family wasn’t rich so that meant that everyone in my house had to pitch in on every task. The fence around the house? I helped my dad mix the cement for it. The tile on the kitchen floor? I was on my knees setting the grout with my mom. But I quickly found out I could get out of chores if I had a good excuse. Reading was a great excuse for my parents. Thus, I’ve been reading fiction all my life to get out of manual labor.

So, yeah, I think I know a good story when I see/read one.
